A MAN was robbed of cash and assaulted at knifepoint in Littlehampton.

The victim had left the Harvester restaurant with a bag containing around a large quantity of cash at 9.45am on Monday 27 February. As he walked near the amusement park in Windmill Road a man came running towards him holding a knife and demanded the bag.

He then punched the victim in the head and he fell onto the pavement where he was kicked in the stomach. The man believes he lost consciousness and when he came round the bag had gone. He was taken to Worthing Hospital for treatment for a head injury before being released.

The suspect was seen running away out of Windmill Road onto South Terrace, north into Beach Road and then east into Irvine Road. He was described as being aged in his 20s, white and was wearing a grey and black mask like a balaclava, a black fleece and blue jeans.

Detective Sergeant Chris Leech said: “Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, particularly if anyone saw the suspect in the area of the Harvester restaurant. Ring Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 0329 of 27/02.”
