PARENTS have supported the restructuring of Eastbrook Primary Academy in Southwick, so all pupils are taught on the same site.

The children at Gardner Road, Fishersgate, will be transferred to the main site, in Manor Hall Road, Southwick, when they new term starts on Tuesday.

Head teacher Julia Sherlock said in some cases, the support had been a little reluctant, but she was convinced parents would soon find it would be better for the children.

The consultation, which was completed on December 13, involved all parents at both sites.

The governors, in their end-of-term newsletter, said: “We expect it to take a bit of time for children to get used to it.

“But as a long-term venture, the governors truly believe it is the best thing for all our children, so we hope to have your support on any teething issues that might occur.”

Mrs Sherlock and the governors are now considering the best use for the south site, which will be retained by the academy for educational purposes.

They are keen to hear parents’ views on how it can be used to benefit the children, and a suggestion box has been placed at the north site. Parents can also email office@eastbrook.w-sussex.sch.uk with suggestions.

The governors are focusing on reading, which was identified by Ofsted as the school’s weakest area, and on improving it across the school. Parents are being encouraged to read with their children at home as much as possible to help the exercise.
