Images of a man police want to speak to have been issued after the theft of luggage from a train at Christ’s Hospital station.

The offence took place on Tuesday December 17, and officers at British Transport Police (BTP) are now seeking any witnesses who saw what took place or who may have any information.

PC Pete Cooke, based at BTP Brighton, is leading the investigation.

He said: “The owner of the suitcase, a 36-year-old man from Horsham, boarded a train at Christ’s Hospital towards Three Bridges.

“A few minutes after the train pulled away he realised he’d left his large black suitcase at Christ’s Hospital station platform.

“He returned a few minutes later, but the bag was missing.”

The luggage contained clothes and shoes, worth a combined total of about £1,000.

It is believed the man pictured in the images, who police want to identify, boarded a train at Christ’s Hospital and got off at Pulborough.

PC Cooke added: “After reviewing CCTV footage, I would like to identify and speak to the man in these photographs as I believe he will have key information about the incident.

“If you recognise him or have information which may help us, please get in touch.”

Anyone with information can contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016 quoting reference LSA/B11 of 28/01/14. Information can also be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
