Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault in Durrington on Saturday evening (July 21).
A man alone in a friend’s house in Winterbourne Close answered a knock on the door around 10pm expecting it to be his friend returning.
However, two men forced their way in and subjected him to a sustained violent attack with some form of weapon, possibly of martial arts style.
After assaulting him for about a minute, his attackers left him bleeding on the kitchen floor and left via the front door.
He saw them walk through the playground opposite and disappear down an alley.
A police spokeswoman said: “This was a vicious, unprovoked assault and the victim does not know why he was the target.
“He suffered bruising to his face, back and shoulder and a cut to his head that required stitches at Worthing Hospital.
“The victim is only able to give us limited descriptions of his attackers in that they were both 5ft 10in to 6ft.
“We would like to talk to anyone who may have seen two men in the area around the time of the attack or has any other information about the incident. Please call Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial 2066 of 21/07 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
