Police are seeking a burglar who stole valued medals from an elderly Chichester resident.
The 95-year old woman returned to her home in Birdham Road, Stockbridge, Chichester, at about 2pm on Wednesday November 28, to find a man in the address.
He fled, taking property with him.
The burglar is described as being white, around 20, and of slim build.
The stolen items include two ‘Royal Academy of Music’ medals, dated about 1940, both embossed with the name ‘WINIFRED LILLEY’ across the front, one silver and one bronze, and therefore very identifiable.
Also stolen was a set of silver fish knives and a small silver candlestick holder.
Detective Constable Jon Tizzard said; “This was a very distressing experience for the victim, who was shaken though thankfully unhurt. We are appealing for witnesses to the burglary and information about the whereabouts of the stolen property. The medals in particular hold great sentimental value for her.
