Officers from Bognor Regis Neighbourhood Policing Team have successfully closed down a brothel operating close to the town centre after concerns were raised by the local community.
They received information that a premises offering oriental massage was being used as a brothel, with men continually visiting the premises at different times of the day and night.
Officers executed a warrant on the premises and found three women aged 28, 33 and 37 inside and surprised a number of potential clients as they entered.
Officers were satisfied that the premises were being used as a brothel and all three women were arrested on suspicion of committing offences in relation to Section 33 of the Sexual Offences Act 1956 and bailed until January 26.
Sergeant Christian Thomas said: “The action taken against this brothel has demonstrated that police take residents’ concerns very seriously and aim to solve such problems as soon as possible. We are committed to ensuring the lives of local residents are not affected by nuisance addresses such as this.
“We urge anyone who suspects a brothel to be operating in their neighbourhood to report it to the police by calling their local Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
