A priest from Pease Pottage has been charged with child sex abuse.
Two men arrested in connection with historic sexual abuse at a children’s home were charged on Monday July 22, said Metropolitan Police.
Father Anthony McSweeney, 66, of Old Brighton Road North, Pease Pottage, was charged with three counts of indecent assault, one count of taking indecent images of a child, one of possessing indecent images of a child and three counts of making indecent images of a child.
John Stingemore, 71, of Stonehouse Drive, St Leonards on Sea, was charged with eight counts of indecent assault, two of taking indecent images of a child and one of conspiracy with persons unknown to commit a sex act.
The men are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on September 4.
Met Police said the charges related to seven children, all aged between nine and 15 when the offences were alleged to have taken place during the 70s and 80s.
This investigation has been named Operation Fernbridge.
A third man arrested in connection with the investigation remains on police bail.
