Police are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery of a security van at the Tesco store in Three Bridges this lunchtime (Friday June 29).
Police were called to the store at 12.13pm where the van was delivering money to the cash machine.
The suspect threatened the driver with what is thought to be a hand gun. The suspect threatened the driver who was forced to hand over a substantial amount of cash.
However, the suspect dropped the money and then made off from the scene empty handed.
The suspect was riding a motocross style trial bike and headed in the direction of the footpath to St Mary’s Drive.
The suspect is described as white and in their late teens to early 20s.
Detective Inspector Sarah Barrett said: “Fortunately no-one was injuried and this is not thought to be linked to any series of crimes. There are a number of lines of enquiry that are being actively pursued but if anyone knows any more information, we ask them to come forward. We have a large number of witnesses and want to thank them for their assistance.”
