Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at the Co-operative village store in Cowfold, Horsham yesterday (July 18) evening.
Two masked men walked into the store at around 9.30pm and threatened the female member of staff with what appeared to be a large kitchen knife before making off with a small amount of cash and cigarettes.
Detective Sergeant Alex Lowe from West Sussex CID said: “This was a frightening experience for the member of staff and the one customer who was in the store at the time of the robbery. Fortunately neither of them were physically injured but are none the less very shaken by the incident.
“We are continuing today with forensic examinations of the scene, viewing CCTV and making house to house enquiries. Please call 101 quoting serial 1755 of 18/7 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you any information that could help police with their enquiries.”
The suspect with the knife is described as white, early to mid 20s, 5ft 9in, of slim build with pale skin and light coloured eyes.
The other suspect is also described as white, of stocky build and was wearing a bulky black coat with two red coloured stripes down each sleeve and had the hood up over his head, black/dark grey trousers and white trainers. He was carrying some sort of baton or blunt object in his hand and a black holdall which was used to put the cash and cigarettes in.
